Advantages of Collecting
Some small things are collected deliberately in the home in an attempt to avoid waste. Among these I would list string and brown paper, kept by thrifty people when a parcel has been opened, to save buying these two requisites. However, collecting as a serious hobby is quite different and has many advantages. Firstly, it provides relaxation for leisure hours, just as lookingat one's treasure is always a pleasure. One does not have to go outside for amusement, since the collection is housed at home. Whatever it consists of,stamps, records, pictures, model cars, stuffed birds, toy animals, there is always something to do in connection with it, from finding the right place for the latest addition to verifying facts in reference books. Consequently, one's knowledge expands. Secondly, this hobby educates one not only in the chosen subject, but also in general matters which have some bearing on it, for instance, to meet like-minded collectors, to get advice, to compare ndtes, to show off the latest find, and so on.In this way, one's cirele of friends grows. Thirdly, the hobby soon leads to travel, perhaps to a meeting in another town, possibly a trip abroad in search of rare specimen (for collectors are not confined to one country).Over the years one may Wall become an authority on one's hobby and will very probably be asked to give informal talks to little gatherings and then, if successful, to larger audience. In so doing self-confidence grows, first from mastering a subject, then from being able to talk about it. In conclusion, collecting, by occupying spare time so constructiveiy, makes a person contented, with no time for boredom.

Women are better managers in most areas: study
Women make better business leaders than men in all but two areas of management, but men have the upper hand when it comes to focusing on the bottom line, according to an Australian survey released on Monday.
Data collected from 1,800 Australian female and male chief executive officers and managers found women exhibit more strategic drive, risk taking, people skills and innovation, and equaled men in the area of emotional stability.
But men came out on top when it came to command and control of management operations and focusing on financial returns.
The survey, conducted for the Steps Leadership Program by employment consultancy firm Peter Berry Consultancy, found women were more likely to take a chance with their ideas and challenge the status quo.
"Women are ambitious, bold, mischievous, colorful and imaginative. They are more confident, competitive, visionary and have a stronger presence," Gillian O'Mara, general manager of the Steps Leadership Program, said in a statement.
But the survey found that men were more task focused and concentrated on getting the job done rather than dealing with relationships.
"(Men believe that) that bottom line dollars are the only game in town. Their key motives and preferences in life appear to be around revenue, budgets and profit. At work and at home, they are driven by financial opportunities," said O'Mara.
"Men are task focused and concentrate on getting the job done without bothering too much with relationships. They are more comfortable with hierarchies, title silos and processes."
The results of the survey, which was based on an international research-based personality test called the Hogan Assessment System used by organizations to select employees, will be presented at a female leadership seminar in Sydney on May 14.

THE VALUE OF TIME
An English proverb says that time is money. I consider it (this) wrong. Why? Because we all know that we can earn money by work but can not in any way get back time (in anyway). For this reason, we may (can) say that time is more valuable than money.
Many people do not know the value of time. It (this) is indeed a great pity. We must bear (keep) in mind that wasting time is equal to wasting your life because we have limited time for our life.
Some people think it is important to do a certain thing in a certain time because they know the importance of time and they try to make use of time available. Let’s treasure time and do as many valuable things as possible in our limited life.

Rainbow
After a summer shower there is often a rainbow In the sky. It is made by sunlight shining through tiny drops of water in the air. The tiny drops of water split the sunlight into colors. These colors are red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, and violet. The rainbow is always in the part of the sky opposite from the sun. Usually it disappears the air. Little rainbows can often be seen in the spray of a waterfall. When my mother sprays the grass and flowers on a sunny day, I sometimes See a little rainbow in her garden.

How to Keep Healthy
Nowadays more and more people are concerned about their health. But how to keephealthy? Different people may give different answers to this question. In my opinion, it is essential to do the following.
First, it is absolutely necessary to take some exercise every day. Research shows that getting plenty of exercise make the heart beat faster and the lungs work harder. This strengthens the heart, reduces the chance of heart attack, and helps lower blood pressure. That's why more and more people are becoming active in various kinds of sports and exercises. Every morning many people get up early and take much exercise. Some practice shadowboxing and swordplay while others run, jog, walk or dance to music. In the afternoon, there are also many people keen on sports. Some play basketball or volleyball or table tennis, others go in for gymnastics or track events. Through sports and exercise, people become healthier and stronger.
Medical researchers have proved that what people eat affects their health. They advise people to eat more fruit and vegetables and less meat such as beef and pork because meat contains more fat than poultry and fish. Fat can build up in the arteries, block the flow of blood, and cause a heart attack or stroke. Getting rid of bad habits like smoking and drinking alcohol is also an important way to keep healthy. Smoking and drinking alcohol injure one's health a great deal, and therefore should be given up. Unfortunately few people follow this advice.
If people follow these three ways of keeping fit, they greatly improve their health.

Dietary Changes and Health Care
As is shown in the graph, China's food distribution has taken great changes from 1960's to 1990's According to this statistics of cereals, vegetable, meat, and fruits, the number of those who eat rice, flour or vegetable has greatly decreased in the past four decades. In contrast of this the number of those who eat oil or meat has sharply increased. From such dietary changes, we can perceive the rapid improvement of our people' s living standard.
Why does this improvement occur? The direct reason is the fact that the Chinese people have attached much importance to their health care. Nationally, China's economic growth is booming, and more people are getting richer. Individually, everyone's consumption of food is increasingly varied. In particular, most of people are reluctant to eat much vegetable, but much meat and oil in their diets.
In my view, the changes of China's dietary distribution seem to be both positive and negative. The positive aspect is that China' s economical growth has given rise to the higher level of dietary standard, with most of people living rich and happy. But the negative aspect is that, I'm afraid, less eating vegetable will lead to poorer health, such as lacking vitamin nutrients in one's body. Therefore, we think it necessary for the Chinese to be aware of the balanced diets: Lots of vegetable and meat, which may gain us healthier bodies in the new century.

Our Bedroom
As soon as you enter the house, you will know that it is a girls' bedroom. The first thing to catch your sight is the neatly arranged desks in the middle. On both sider of the room stand four two-deck beds, The quilts are folded in squares. Over each bed there hangs a curtain.
Wind-bells are popular in our bedroom. Once you get on the bed, you will hear the sound of jingling bells. Small animals are on each bed. Most of them are silly, funny and lovely. There are somethings particular on Shi Yin's bed. There are Micky Mouse, Donald Duck, a duckling, a baby panda, and a little hedgedog, in addition to three silly bears standing on each other in the figure of a glare, Actually it resembles an out-and-out zoo.
I like our bedroom. It gives me a sense of being home. It is a warm and comfortable place to live in.
